Baking Soda

Ideal for fire damage restoration, smoke damage restoration, mold removal, food processing, building restoration, graffiti removal on non-industrial surfaces, and automotive parts restoration. For more information see “Soda Blasting”.

55 2.5 1 – 2 Profile XL Contains 10% aluminum oxide (70 grit) with rinse accelerator for heavy coatings removal on hard substrates, rust removal.

Calcium Carbonate

calciumRounded granuals and a compatible chemical structure make Calcium Carbonate ideal for granite, marble, masonry and limestone-based restoration.

Media Specifications

Mesh Hardness Formula Applications
Z-5
70 Mesh
2.9 Z5 For cleaning stone and brick and lithotypes in general.
Z-6
130 Mesh
2.9 Z6 For cleaning stone and especially delicate old brick on monumental works defaced by soot, black crusts, carbonizations in general, air-borne particles and saline efflorescence.

Maxx Strip

Classified as a soft media that is completely water soluble, Maxx Strip works best for situations which require a neutral pH solution (for example swimming pools). This media is extremely similar to Baking Soda with the main difference being the hardness.

Media Specifications

Mesh Hardness Profile Applications
40 – 60 3.5 Variable Great cross-over media – hard enough to remove rust off of metal, but still soft enough to use on certain “fragile” substrates like limestone or pool tiles without risking damage.

Walnut Shells

walnut100% all natural and highly durable media that is biodegradable, non-toxic and cost effective. Walnut Shells can be used on a variety of surfaces including aluminum and sheet metal.

Media Specifications

Mesh Hardness Formula Applications
40-100 3-4 Fine Monument and Statue Restoration
35-60 3-4 Med/ Fine General Cleaning
18-40 3-4 Medium Automotive; Metal Prep
14-30 3-4 Coarse Automotive; Metal Prep

Crushed Glass

glass100% recycled bottle glass provides a non-hazardous silica free media that is approved for use by federal and state agencies. This cost effective media is ideal for removing typical coatings and other surface preparation.

Media Specifications

Mesh Hardness Profile Formula Applications
70 – 100 6 .5 – 1 mil Fine “light” sandblasting, aluminum
50 – 80 6 1 – 2 mil Med/ Fine Paint and rust removal, log homes
30 – 70 6 1.5 – 2 mil Medium Paint and rust removal, pools
10 – 40 6 3 mil Coarse Heavy duty sandblasting

Jet-Mag

Jet-Mag is silica-free replacement for silica sand, recycled crushed glass, and natural olivine. While Jet-Mag does produce a dust it has been classified by OSHA/NIOSH as only “nuisance” dust. Due to it’s translucent nature visibility is substantially improved when compared to traditional hard abrasives.

Media Specifications

Mesh Hardness Profile Applications
20-24 7.5 2.5-4 For hard rust, deep cavities, boat and bridge reconditioning, painted or rusted steel, premetallization, concrete (decorative aggregates). Structural steel, industrial equipment, weight machinery, trucks
30-40 7.5 2-3 New and painted steel with little rust, truck wheels
40-50 7.5 1.5-2.5 Cars and truck frames, few cavities, new steel, stainless stee
60-70 7.5 .5-1 Stainless steel, new steel, industrial equipment, car and truck frames

Garnet

Garnet-ImageA dual purpose media that works great for surface prep and rust removal. This hard abrasive can be used multiple times before losing its effectiveness and when used at a low pressure is nearly dustless.

Media Specifications

Mesh Hardness Profile Applications
30 – 60 8.0 2 – 3.5 Great for traditional surface preparation projects, rust removal, paint removal, maintenance, oil and gas, ship yards
80 8.0 1 – 2 Paint and coating removal, UHP equipment, structural steel,
stainless steel, stone building facades and monuments
120 8.0 N/A Masonry and brick restoration (at low pressure with IBIX equipment)
150 8.0 N/A Wood restoration, monument and statue work (at low pressure with IBIX equipment)
